Computer Forensic Certifications

To Become a Certified Computer Examiner, there are several Certifications available

There are several computer forensics certifications available from different organizations. Many law enforcement agencies certify their examiners independently. Some examiners are sent out for certification after beginning employment. Some employers mandate that an examiner be certified before or immediately after a position is granted.

Some of the more popular computer forensic certifications are described below. This is not a complete list. Several other technical/information security certifications are available that have a forensic component.

Certified Computer Examiner, “CCE” – a certification offered industry-wide through the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners (ISFCE) to qualified applicants who complete an examination process. Certified Forensic Computer Examiner, “CFCE” – a certification offered only to those meeting membership criteria through the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (IACIS). EnCase Certified Examiner, “EnCE” – a certification offered industry-wide through Guidance Software, the developers of EnCase forensic software to those qualified applicants completing the certification process. To learn more about the EnCE and EnCase, visit their website at www.encase.com.

AccessData Certified Examiner, “ACE” – a certification offered industry-wide through AccessData, the developers of forensic software products, including Forensic Toolkit, to those qualified applicants completing the certification process.
